Our Tamales
We love this time of year. This is where Vegos really thrives, a time where tradition and the unfamiliar meet. Tamales have become part of the Vegos culture and it is a language we speak to communicate about happy times with family and friends.
Our tamales are stuffed with our classic red chile and sautéed jackfruit. We're not talking about that sweet jackfruit, we use that young green jackfruit. Perfect for creating that shredded texture. We marry these two items in a large pan and let it sit for a low simmer. Infusing all the flavors together. However, a good tamale's foundation is the masa, and we have just the right combination. We keep it simple with our masa, only using 6 ingredients. No artifical flavors, colors, or dyes. Each tamale is hand rolled by a Vegos team member and is surely gonna make your meal special.
How to Re-heat your tamales
So you're ready to enjoy your tamales, what do you do? Your tamales are fully cooked and just need to be reheated. There are two options for best reheating results.
Option 1: a steamer pot or instapot (we recommend this option)
Place your frozen tamales in the steamer basket of your pot or instapot and cover with the lid. Steam for 30 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees Fahrenheit.
Option 2: microwave. This option will work best with defrosted tamales. To defrost, place tamales in your fridge the night before you plan to enjoy them. Wrap in a damp paper towel and microwave for 45 seconds. Flip and rotate for an additional 15 seconds. Repeat until the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees Fahrenheit.
We recommend a generous sprinkle of salt over your tamale and enjoy!
Thank You!
